I didn’t have many family traditions growing up -at least not many that I recall. I want to change that for my son, so I have been actively trying to establish fun and memorable traditions that he can look back on fondly as he gets older. One simple tradition is that at least once a month we have breakfast for dinner.

Honestly, even if I wasn’t so concerned about creating family traditions, this would still be something we did. I LOVE breakfast, but not always at breakfast time. For some reason, I don’t usually feel hungry for at least a few hours after I wake up. But if you offer me foods like French toast, eggs, biscuits, hash browns and sausage at any other time of the day, I am all over it!

That’s why I LOVE McDonald’s and their All-Day Breakfast menu. I remember the days before they offered it. I’d rush to McDonald’s in that span of time when they would be switching between breakfast and lunch and be hoping beyond hope that they were still serving breakfast.

Now I no longer have to worry about that because I can arrive at any time – whether it is 8 a.m. or 8 p.m. – and get my fill of tasty breakfast foods. Whether I want a sweet and savory McGriddle, a filling McMuffin, a Hotcakes platter, or one of their biscuit items, I can. Paired with a warm hash brown, a bowl of Fruit & Maple Oatmeal, or a Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfait, you can’t really go wrong.

Christian’s go-to is the Hotcakes and Sausage platter (sometimes with a Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfait) and orange juice. I usually opt for one of the sandwiches, a hash brown and coffee, but really get whatever my taste buds demand at the time. We tend to dine in so that Christian can get in some exercise at the PlayPlace while I catch up on a bit of reading. Then we head home to begin our bedtime routine. It’s really just something that is simple yet enjoyable for our little family.

If you love breakfast foods, you should check out your local McDonald’s selection of All-Day Breakfast menu options. Because it’s never too late for tasty food.

I started Single Mommy Warrior to talk honestly about life as a single mom. The good. The hard. The funny. The parts people usually gloss over. Parenting alone. Working from home. Dating. Healing. Trying again. Learning as I go.
