“You can work your business part time, but you can’t work it some of the time.” I think that this is where many people trip up when they get into direct sales. Just because you don’t consider it a full-time job, doesn’t mean that consistency isn’t important. If you are only working your business sometimes, it’s not a business. It’s a hobby. Hobbies don’t generate income. So if you have started a home-based business and you are sitting there wondering why you haven’t made any real money, ask yourself one question: what do I do each day to work my business? If you can’t come up with a solid answer, then you, my friend, do not have a business. Luckily, you can change that by just committing to doing something each day to work your business. Here are some suggested business building activities that you can implement into your daily schedule:

Talk to someone new about your business

Hand out business cards

Post flyers

Post online ads

Post offline ads

Follow up with leads

Check in with customers

Check in with team members

Talk about your business on social media (status updates, blog posts, etc)

Host an opportunity meeting

Attend a networking event

set up a booth at a vendor event

Utilize a business development resource (audio, video, book, etc)

Learn more about your products, the company, the industry, etc.

This list doesn’t even scratch the surface of all of the things that you can do on a regular basis to move your business forward. Which ones do you do CONSISTENTLY? What are some others that you would add to the list.

Hey, I’m Tiffany! I’m a single mom to a teenage boy, living in Central Arkansas with our two cats: Berlioz, the belly-rub-loving shadow, and Zenitsu, our adorable little terror who keeps life interesting. I work from home, homeschool, and juggle about 47 mental tabs at once thanks to ADHD.

I started Single Mommy Warrior to talk honestly about life as a single mom. The good. The hard. The funny. The parts people usually gloss over. Parenting alone. Working from home. Dating. Healing. Trying again. Learning as I go.

Professionally, I’m a copywriter who helps women grow their businesses with honest, ethical, personality-driven copy. Personally, I’m a geeky, book-loving, anime-watching human who still believes dream houses should come with libraries and secret rooms.

This isn’t a “perfect mom” blog. It’s a real one. And you’re welcome here.
