Was only a little late arriving. I deserve a pat on the back.

Most of the Arkansas Women Bloggers that attended snuck in a group picture with the Chef Mary Beth Ringgold and Dan, the manager.

I am so glad that I was able to connect with the Arkansas Women Bloggers when I first started blogging and that over the past year or so I have actually been plugging in. I have learned a lot from this amazing group of ladies, have made some friends, and have had some amazing opportunities that I have been involved with. And I don’t foresee the amazingness coming to an end any time soon.

A little over a week ago, I had the honor to be part of a group that was invited to Cajun’s Wharf for a private event. We started out with a meet and greet then had a wine tasting.

Wine tasting. He was using “fancy” terms like “on the nose” and “grassy undertones”. Didn’t know what most of it meant, but I enjoyed it. Lol.

Owner and chef Mary Beth Ringgold came out to greet us. She is pretty funny and down to Earth. Photobmobed by one of her awesome staff and Mrs. Delta Moxie.

Immediately afterwards, we went to the dining side and were able to order whatever we wanted from the menu. The food is FANTASTIC from the entrees to dessert. Very flavorful and filling. Not to mention beautifully plated. Loved it!

The appetizers. Yum! I loved everything and those pita chips were addictive.Clockwise(ish) from top: Spicy Blackened Chicken Egg roll, Crab Au Gratin, Artichoke Dip, and Oysters Bienville.

After that, the owner/chef, Mary Beth Ringgold came back out to do a cooking demonstration for us. The mussels and clams in tomato broth she made was fantastic!

After that we had a Tennessee whiskey tasting that was hosted by a local distillery owner. Pretty sure that was my first time trying whiskey! It was interesting learning about how it is made. We even got to try the whiskey that was voted artisan whiskey of the year in 2013.

Whiskey tasting. My first time trying it. I admit, it is an acquired taste, lol!

IMG_0037

These are the whiskeys we tried. All from Tennessee. We also learned a bit about how they are made. Did you know that whiskey is naturally clear. The quality ones get their coloring and flavor from aging in wooden barrels. That’s why some of them have an oaky flavor. The last one is made by the 2013 Craft Distillery of the Year and was named Artisan Whisky of the Year. Am I the only one that looks at the label and automatically start singing Gangnam Style?

Telling us all about whiskey

The others have a definite acquired taste, but this one was enjoyable.

We were then treated at the bar to the restaurant’s signature drink, the Play-de-do and to a tasty Sangria. Just in case you’re wondering, I didn’t get tipsy, lol. We had plenty of food to soak it all up. We ended with some delicious pizza. My favorite was the cheesesteak pizza.

Just a very tiny selection of what they have to offer. They have thousands of bottles to choose from.

Their signature drink. the Play De Do: Light Rum, Dark Rum, Pineapple Juice, OJ, & Grenadine.

Sangria – Tasty. This was my favorite.

Anyways, it was a great day. Great company. Great food. Learned some things. And now I know where to go for a good time whenever I am in Little Rock because Cajun’s also has live entertainment to top top everything off. If you are ever in the Little Rock area and are looking for a place that has nice people, tasty food, a relaxing atmosphere, and great entertainment, you should check out Cajun’s Wharf. I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up!
