I don’t know about everyone else, but I get genuinely excited about the opportunity to learn new skills – whether they are something that will improve my business, my life, or that’s just something cool to do. I am always on the look-out for free and affordable classes I can take online.  I thought that maybe there are some other learning junkies out there. In case you’re one of them, here are some of my favorite websites to learn new skills.

Creative Live

This is definitely at the top of my list (obviously). Creative Live is a place where hundreds of experts from a variety of subject areas convene to teach eager students like you and me. The website boasts over 1,500 classes for creative-minded individuals who want to learn more about photography, video, art, design, music, audio, crafting, money, and life. You can find live and on-demand courses that are free or paid. I’ve taken quite a few courses and loved them all. To check out what they are offering now, check out their website.

SkillShare

If you want to learn new skills, but don’t have a lot of free time, this could be perfect for you. SkillShare offers over 8,000 classes that you can take right from the comfort of home. The draw for this is that they offer lessons that you can complete in just 15 minutes a day. I think that most of us can squeeze that in if we really want to. I know I waste more time than that watching Netflix or Hulu. You can try one month free here.

Lynda

This is a great website for learning software, business, and creative skills. They also have some great courses about marketing and business that are worth checking out. The courses are video-based and taught by industry experts. Check it out with a free trial.

Coursera

Coursera is a great way to take some of the world’s best classes online, without ending up in super-debt. They partner with top universities like Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and Duke to offer online courses in a variety of specializations for a fraction of the cost. They even offer some free courses! I have taken courses on Clinical Psychology, Child Nutrition, and the History of Humankind. Get started here.

Duolingo

If you really want to learn another language, but don’t have hundreds of dollars for Rosetta Stone, a private tutor, or a vacation, this is a great option. This is a free language-learning resource that you can access both online and on their app. They offer several different languages, the lessons are fun, and it’s free. Pretty cool, if you ask me. Check it out!

Udemy

This is another fantastic website that boasts over 40,000 courses on a wide variety of topics for a low cost. I’ve actually never taken a course on this website before, but it is a really popular one, so I thought I would give it an honorable mention. Visit their website to learn more.

Topic for Discussion: Do you know of any cool websites I didn’t mention? Let me know in the comments below.
